Back to the Drawing Board?
While only a few people have looked into this game (and fewer still have downloaded it), I'm noting here that I'll be revising Crisis Angel in several aspects. Not quite an overhaul, but maybe 1/3 to half being rewritten.
Having playtested the current version in a few sessions (both character creation and gameplay), it feels to me too much like an action/battle game (owing to it being rooted in Bolt, perhaps) without enough of the long-term, slow-burn narrative tension that I want to emulate from the source material I was inspired by.
Rather than trying to tack on yet another system, I'm looking into patterning the magic system a bit more closely on a story-game system that handles this well, while still steering clear of making this a PbtA-esque (which I'm not too fond of in general). Right now, it's looking like Approaches, Limits and Skills/Specializations will remain the same, while the overall implementation of transformation and magic will be adjusted quite a bit.
